Toby Boothman is born in 1973 in Bristol, England. In 1994, his life changed when He went to study under the direction of Master Patrick Betaudier in Monflanquin, France.

Here at the Atelier Neo Medici, He was taught a modern version of the Renaissance technique known as " tempera", the Technique Mixed. This technique, which combines detailed under painting with transparent oil glazes, dates back to the time of the 15th century Flemish master Jan van Eyck and Caravage.

Technique has become an extremely important factor in his painting, since discovering it, he aims to create his own style inspirated by the greatest masterpieces of Renaissance, painting the nudity hidden by suggestive sheets. Profusion of flesh, heavy fabrics and intesity of the light immersing us in Toby Bootman's univers where perfection rules.

Today, Toby Boothman stands out by painting portraits with gold leaf that gives his works a luxurous glow of Byzantine icones, or by playing with an illusive photography aspect that brings alive his models. He lives and works in Saint Tropez, France, married with 3 children.
